Idol group 22/7 has released an animated music video by CloverWorks for their ninth single “Kumorizora no Mukou ha Hareteiru” (Beyond The Clouded Sky Lies Sunshine). Yuta Yamazaki (Wonder Egg Priority, My Dress-Up Darling episode director) directed the music video, while Yukiko Horiguchi (Lucky Star, K-On!) did the character designs and served as the animation director. 4s301n
22/7 is a mix-media project created by Aniplex, Sony Music Records, and the well-known AKB48 producer Yasushi Akimoto. It was formed in 2016 and currently consists of 14 . They debuted in 2017 with “Boku wa Sonzai Shiteinakatta” single. Tatsunoko Production animated the music video for the debut single.
They went on to release other music singles including “Shampoo no Nioi ga Shita” (April 2018), “Rikaisha” (August 2018), “Nani mo Shite Agerarenai “(June 2019), and “Boku ga Motteru Mono nara” (2021).
The idol group received a short anime series on YouTube in 2018 from CloverWorks. This was then followed by an anime series from A-1 Pictures, that aired from January 11 to March 28, 2020. It was composed of 12 episodes and an OVA. Crunchyroll is streaming the series, and describes it as:
One day, Miu Takigawa suddenly receives a letter notifying her that she has been chosen as a member of a brand-new project. Half in disbelief, she heads over to the location stated on the letter. There, she finds seven other girls summoned there in the same fashion. The girls behold a giant, top-secret facility. They stand in bewilderment as they are told: “You are going to debut for a major record label as an idol group.” A new kind of idol, never-before-seen, is about to be born here…
