MyAnimeList CEO Atsushi Mizoguchi shared the company’s gender and age data for Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World Season 3, From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad’s Been Reincarnated!, and Zenshu. Other notable statistics shared by Mizoguchi included that MyAnimeList has around 19.5 million s, 99% of which are from overseas. 20% are from the United States, and 90% of its s are under 34 years old.

Mizoguchi also showcased the collaboration between MyAnimeList and GEM Partners, leveraging its data to provide insights into anime fan behavior. The above breakdown of gender and age came from here; the pair are working on a dashboard allowing companies to understand demographics for different anime series and trends over time. “This allows you to understand how your marketing activities have affected the core MAL community,” Mizoguchi said. You can check out some of the dashboard visuals below.

Below is a dashboard showing how the MyAnimeList for titles have changed over time. The X-axis is time, and the Y-axis is s who have indicated that they plan to watch a series. Mizoguchi says the Y-axis can also visualize “Watching,” “Completed,” and “Dropped.”

Below is a graph of isekai titles showing (X-axis) and score (Y-axis):

The Familiar of Zero (bottom left) should be much, much higher. Top 2 and it’s not #2.

MyAnimeList is one of the world’s biggest anime and manga databases, first announcing last February that it had converted the data of its then 18 million s into an accessible database for third-party companies. It added that these data disclosures contained no personally identifiable information. CyberAgent America (CA America) recently announced a strategic partnership with MyAnimeList to build a unique database for anime marketing using MyAnimeList records and CA America’s social media data.

The pair will also evaluate marketing success, develop new marketing methods, and build a “unique, highly accurate translation system based on the qualitative information on a title-by-title basis from MyAnimeList (information specific to the work, such as characters and voice actor names), and use it to disseminate information in each country’s language.”
