The A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special anime is produced by Arvo Animation and directed by the studio’s president Taiichi Kawaguchi. The rest of the staff includes Takamitsu Kono as the series composer and scriptwriter, Hiromi Katou as the character designer, Kenta Higashiooji as the music composer, Eiji Iwase as the art director and Takatoshi Hamano as the sound director. The main cast for the anime includes Takuma Terashima as Desir Herrman, Natsumi Fujiwara as Pram Schnaize, and Sayumi Suzushiro as Romaintica Elle.
A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special is based on a web novel by So-nan Yu and Uk-jakga, which was first published on KakaoPage from September 2016 to August 2019. It also received a webtoon adaptation with illustrations by Wookjakga, which KakaoPage started serializing in May 2018. It is published by Piccoma digitally and Kadokawa Shoten in print in Japan.
Yen Press has licensed the manga in English, and they describe the story:
