HoYoverse has confirmed that the Version 5.7 update of Genshin Impact, titled “A Space and Time for You,” will release globally on June 18, 2025. The update will introduce new characters, major story developments, and gameplay features across all platforms. A trailer for the update was also released and can be found below.
Skirk and Dahlia the Playable Roster
Genshin Impact Version 5.7 marks the first appearance of Skirk as a playable character. Known for her role as Childe’s mentor, Skirk is a 5-star Cryo sword who formerly trained under Surtalogi “The Foul,” one of Khaenri’ah’s Five Sinners. Her combat mechanics allow her to switch between two fighting styles: one centered on sustained Cryo damage through enhanced Normal Attacks, and another focused on area damage via Elemental Burst. Both styles utilize a resource called Serpent’s Subtlety, which replaces conventional Elemental Energy usage.
Skirk also introduces team synergy mechanics, offering bonus effects when at least one Cryo and one Hydro character are in the party, such as increased damage and enhanced Elemental Skills.
Accompanying her is Dahlia, a new 4-star Hydro and Deacon of the Church of Favonius. Dahlia provides a renewable shield through his Elemental Burst, which can be triggered again using Normal Attacks or by Freeze reactions. He also increases team attack speed and can either launch allies or deal Hydro damage using his Elemental Skill.
Character Event Wishes in Version 5.7 will be split across two phases:
- Phase I: Skirk, Dahlia, Shenhe (rerun)
- Phase II: Pyro Archon Mavuika and Emilie (reruns)
Archon Quest Continues in Natlan
Following the “Bedtime Story” quest, the ongoing Archon Quest will continue, focusing on the increasing conflict involving the Traveler twins. As the Abyss Order begins operations in Natlan, the region’s defenders, led by Mavuika, prepare for confrontation. Dainsleif will accompany the Traveler in a new form, as the story progresses toward more direct revelations surrounding the sibling’s plan.
New Gameplay Modes and Events
Genshin Impact Version 5.7 introduces several gameplay additions:
- Stygian Onslaught: A permanent combat mode featuring three rotating bosses and six escalating difficulty levels. Completing challenges awards Artifacts and a new resource called Dust of Enlightenment, which allows players to re-roll secondary stat upgrades on max-level Artifacts.
- Sumeru Event – Simulated Tactical Adventure: Hosted by the Akademiya, this limited-time event combines strategy and randomized elements. Players can build teams using Companion Pieces, choose distinct regional paths, and participate in preparatory activities. Completing the event unlocks in-game items and the chance to recruit Sethos.
- Travelers’ Tales: Gilded Chapter: A series of lighter narrative segments featuring recurring characters in casual settings, including Thoma in Mondstadt, Neuvillette in Merusea Village, and Dori negotiating with Sayu in Inazuma.
Quality of Life Improvements
Several optimizations will be implemented in Version 5.7:
- Players can now use Fragile Resin to immediately claim triple rewards from Ley Line Outcrops and challenge Domains, including those for Artifacts and Talent materials.
- Additional game resource settings will be introduced for mobile platforms, tailoring usage based on player progression.
- New Envisaged Echoes challenges will be available for Raiden Shogun and Shenhe.
