February 8 marks the birthday of Giyu Tomioka from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, and the official website released a 2025 illustration by ufotable to commemorate it. The illustration features the Water Hashira as a chibi, along with some elements related to him.
Ufotable releases illustrations for other characters as well, with Genya also getting one in January.
Koyoharu Gotoge wrote and illustrated the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga series, which was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from February 2016 to May 2020. It ended with a total of 23 compilation volumes.
The anime adaptation by ufotable began with a 26-episode Season 1, which aired from April to September 2019. Following its huge success, the sequel movie, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train followed in October 2020 and arguably began the entire anime movie boom.
The movie was then re-edited and shown as part of the 18-episode Season 2, which aired from October 2021 to February 2022. The 11-episode Season 3 aired from April to June 2023, while Season 4 aired from May to June 2024 and set the stage for the endgame.
An Infinity Castle Arc movie trilogy is now in production, with the first moviestage play will also begin showing in Japan in April this year.
