GKids Announces Spirited Away: Live on Stage Digital and Blu-Ray Release 1o2s1z

After overwhelming fan demand and critical acclaim,Spirited Away stage play adaptation will be getting a digital release this fall. Spirited Away: Live on Stage will be coming on all major digital platforms on October 24 and Blu-Ray on November 14. GKids is in charge of the distribution alongside Shout! Spirited Away: Live on Stage brought the story of its animation counterpart to life by using master-class puppetry, enchanting sets, beautiful costumes, and musical scores. The stage play ran in 2022 at the Tokyo’s Imperial Theater in Tokyo, Japan, and features two unique sets of casts and performances. It features a double casting starring Japanese actresses Kanna Hashimoto and Mone Kamishiraishi as the leading heroine, Chihiro. Both stage play performances will be available digitally. The Blu-Ray will have two discs that will include both of the performances. Fans can pre-order the Blu-Ray on the GKids store.

Spirited Away: Live on Stage is a stage play adaptation of Hayao Miyazaki’s Academy Award-winning animation, Spirited Away. It was adapted and directed by John Caird, a Tony Award winner for his previous works, Les Misérables and The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby. The cast of the two performances are as follows:

Spirited Away: Live on Stage debuted in America earlier this spring during the 2023 Ghibli Fest and had a successful theater run.
