Tetsuro Kuroo from the popular Haikyuu!! series has been appointed by the Japan Volleyball Association (JVA) as its special chief for the association’s public relations department. According to the JVA, a special project led by Tetsuro Kuroo will commence on April 2, though no details about this project have been revealed as of this writing. It is worth noting that this was not the first time a Haikyuu!! character has been tapped for ambassadorship roles, as the Argentinian volleyball team UPCN Vóley Club announced in 2020 that Toru Oikawa was signed by the club as an official player.
This announcement follows the recent theatrical release of Haikyuu: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump movie, which had recently recorded around ¥81.9 billion yen in box office revenue. Production I.G animated the movie, which will be split into two parts and fully adapt the manga. The film is the sequel to the anime series’ fourth season.
Haikyuu!! is based on a manga by Haruichi Furudate which was serialized in the Weekly Shonen Jump from 2012 to 2020. The manga ended after 405 chapters, compiled into 45 volumes. It had four seasons, the first one airing from April to September 2014, the second one from October 2015 to March 2016, the third from October to December 2016, and the fourth season airing for two cours: from January to April 2020 and October to December 2020.
