Full Statement from Aka Akasaka
With many people’s , “Kaguya-sama: Love is War” was a long, 7 and a half years long, serialization.
The weekly serialization didn’t go as planned at all, so there were a lot of events that made me realize my incompetence as a manga artist.
Even so, as much as I’ve gone through, there were still a lot of fun memories, and now I can look back on the past, like if I made people around me happy even a little.
Thank you for the 7 and a half years.
I’d like to talk about my activity in the future.
Akasaka will, as a manga artist, take retirement with this work as the last one.
I said retirement, but it means I’ll put a period to the activity of “manga creator who illustrates” for the moment so that I can dedicate myself to story writing in the future. So I’m planning to be active as an original writer.
When it comes to art, I’d like to keep it easy as a hobby.
One last thing, even though the series ended, there is a huge foreshadowing that remained in Kaguya-sama. I’m making every effort to deliver it to you all in the best possible way. I’ll make sure the addition will not be undesired, so I’d appreciate your patience with a little anticipation for it.

G3 Ida was running a spin-off Kaguya-sama wo Kataritai in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine, in which Aka Akasaka serialized Kaguya-sama: Love is War. Both of the series ended in the same issue on Tuesday and will release the final volumes on December 19.

Aka Akasaka’s Kaguya-sama Love Is War manga launched in Shueisha’s monthly magazine Miracle Jump in May 2015 but was later moved to Weekly Young Jump magazine in March 2016. The manga inspired a TV anime series with three seasons by A-1 Pictures and several live-action film adaptations. A new anime project Kaguya-sama: Love is War First – Kiss Never Ends is in the works and is set to have both a theatrical screening and a TV broadcast. The manga creator is currently writing Oshi no Ko manga in the magazine with art by Mengo Yokari, who is best known for her manga series Scum’s Wish. The series released the 9th compiled volume in October 2022 and is receiving an anime adaptation by Doga Kobo in 2023.
