Lycoris Recoil Episode 6 - This Series Doesn't Know How To Miss 4u6u2h

Lycoris Recoil episode 6 proved to be the most adrenaline-pumping, pedal-to-the-metal episode of the season and my goodness did it deliver on every front. From the script to the composition to the animation, everything about the latest episode of Lycoris Recoil proved that the series just doesn’t know how to miss. 6r2j3w

Fast-Paced From The Jump 134i5o

From the very beginning to the very end, episode 6 of Lyrocis Recoil never once skipped a beat in its pacing. Even with slower moments like Chisato and Takina playing rock-paper-scissors to split chore duty, the alertness with something happening soon after the fact was always lingering. Big moments felt like big moments and the feeling of panic in the characters definitely mirrored the same feeling just by simply watching this episode.

Everyone, including the DA, was thrown into a high alert from the very jump with multiple Lycoris being singled out by Majima and his crew. In fact, the only person who seemed to be calm at every single moment in this episode was Yoshi himself. If you also noticed, in every scene where we “see” Yoshi, he’s in a calm setting with no real panic at all whether it’s his office or a high-end restaurant. Almost giving off the feeling he’s the puppet master watching all of his puppets dance. Though we never see his face, it’s easy to tell that it’s him given how he also hasn’t shown up in the past two episodes.

The Kurumi and Roboto Dynamic 56g16

Kurumi and Roboto finally had the most screen time they’ve had out of the entire season and it’s for good measure. The two were basically the anchors for each side and really became the deciding facts of which side would win the fight during the episode. And at the end of it all, it was marvelous to see how the director Shingo Adachi chose to use the same shots but also include different ones just to show the position they’re in and the crew they’re surrounded by.

Two hackers. Two different settings. Two different situations. And yet, at the end of both of them apologizing, Takina and Majima both accepted their apologies and continued to look forward to working with them. However, Kurumi will continue to work with everyone while Robota will be working for everyone. So this dynamic that was set from episode 1 now starting to show its true colors is marvelous to see, even if it doesn’t involve Chisato and Takina.

The Chisato and Majima Showdown 6o325y

One thing that really stood out during their fight together was the constant use of lighting up dark elements and heading back into the darkness again. Whether it was car light, the flare from gunshots, or a blast from a rocket, the staff did a wonderful job of making the element of a night fight felt in its entirety. The constant use of flare visuals to give each intense moment that gorgeous, yet intense, touch was a perfect decision.

But it wasn’t just the visuals that were incredible in episode 6 of Lycoris Recoil, the scriptwriting was also fantastic. Not only did the contrast between Kurumi and Robota reach the forefront of the episode, but so did the Chisato and Majima dynamic as well. One side that constantly refuses to kill her enemies facing off against someone that believes in the complete opposite clashing against one another in what came out to be an even fight was genius. Chisato finally met someone who could match her capabilities while Majima found a target that finally interested him to the point it drove him crazy with excitement. Let’s not forget that both are tied into the tower incident as well.

The writing for Lycoris Recoil took a drastic leap forward this week in every sense of the word. Even the comedy aspects of the episode were fantastic. Despite everything that just occurred, Takina’s side goal of simply beating Chisato in rock-paper-scissors felt like the perfect cherry on top to end the episode. It’s almost as if the emotions shifted during that moment seeing as how that ending would more so be something Chisato would do.
