The official trailer for Lycoris Recoil was revealed on Friday on Aniplex’s official Youtube channel. The original anime series will begin airing in July 2022 and is animated by A-1 Pictures (86 Eighty-Six). Shingo Adachi (Sword Art Online) will be making his directing debut and manga author Imigimuru (This Art Club Has a Problem!) will be debuting as an anime character designer for the series. 5v471t
In this Japanese-style café, coffee and sweets aren’t the only things being served. From business deals and love advice, all the way to exterminating monsters, the employees of Riko-Riko cafe will fulfill any order a customer has for them! Each character and their voice actors were revealed during the trailer including:
Chika Anzai, who will be the voice of Chisato Nishikigi—the uppity, always positive main character that’s easy to deceive. Anzai most recently starred as Tsubame Hattori in Orient and Chise Asukagawa in SSSS. Dynazenon.
Shion Wakayama, who will be the voice of Takina Inoue—our cool, calm, and collected main character opposite Chisato Nishikigi. Wakayama’s most recent work was in the Winter 2022 slice-of-life anime, Abeki Sailor’s Uniform, as the voice of Tomono Kojō.
Ami Koshimizu, who will be the voice of Mizuki Nakahara—the cafe’s clerk who is looking for a man to finally settle down and have a nice, cold drink with. Koshimizu is currently voicing Amane Shinjou in Birdie Wing – Golf Girls’ Story and is most notably known for her roles as Ryuuko Matoi in Kill la Kill and Holo in Spice and Wolf.
Misaki Kuno, who will be the voice of Kurumi—a younger girl who loves to game and loathes working. Kuno was recently cast as the voice of Frederica in 86 Eighty-Six and will also be voicing Faputa in the season of Made in Abyss.
Last but certainly not least, Kosuke Sakaki, who will be the voice of Mika—the café manager and the dad figure of the group. Sakaki most recently voiced multiple characters in Megalo Box and Soichiro Kataoka in Idol Memories.
Making his directing debut with Lycoris Recoil, Adachi is most notably known for his work in Sword Art Online. He worked as a chief animation director for Sword Art Online and Sword Art Online II and reprised the same role for Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale. He directed and storyboard the first opening sequence for Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of the Underworld and also worked as the character designer.
Imigimuru has seen success as the creator of This Art Club Has a Problem!. The manga currently has over one million copies in circulation and reached its 100th chapter back in October 2021. The series received a 12-episode anime adaptation back in 2016 produced by feel. All of the episodes are currently available to watch on Crunchyroll.
Lycoris Recoil will be A-1 Pictures’ third series of 2022, ing 86 Eighty-Six and Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Season 3.
