The Apothecary Diaries is a light novel series written by Natsu Hyuga and illustrated by Toko Shino. It inspired a manga adaptation written by Itsuki Nanao and illustrated by Nekokurage and an anime series directed by Norihiro Naganuma. The light novel series is serialized by Shunfunotomo while the manga is published by Square Enix and is serialized in Monthly GanGan. TOHO Animation and OML are both in charge of the animation of The Apothecary Diaries anime series.
Aside from inspiring the manga adaption and anime series, the light novel has also inspired a short mini-anime series called Maomao’s Diaries (Maomao no Hitorigoto). Maomao’s Diaries features the main character, Maomao, as she explains the key items shown during the week’s current episode. Maomao’s Diaries is streaming on TOHO Animation’s official YouTube Channel and it currently has 11 short episodes.
J-Novel Club has currently licensed the light novel series and is publishing it digitally while the manga adaptation is licensed and published by Square Enix. Square Enix will also physically publish the light novel series in English starting in May 2024.
The Apothecary Diaries anime series is streaming on Crunchyroll in both English subtitles and dubbed. The streaming site described the series as:
