The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) anime series released the preview visuals and a short video of their 13th episode. The episode is titled “Serving in the Outer Court” and will air on January 6. It is the first episode of the second cour of the series, which announcement new theme songs on December 25, 2023. Maomao, who was fired, can return to the palace thanks to the help of Jinshi. Despite being loved by Meimei and the princesses, Maomao decides to return to work at the palace. However, it was not the inner palace that she worked in before. Rather, she was taken to Jinshi’s house at the outer court. Confused by the different treatment that she is given, Maomao asks Jinshi only for him to tell her to take the exam to become a court lady. 6n633e
The Apothecary Diaries is based on a light novel series written by Natsu Hyuga and illustrated by Toko Shino. The series is serialized by Shunfunotomo and it has inspired a manga adaptation and an anime series. The manga adaptation is written by Itsuki Nanao and illustrated by Nekokurage and the anime series was directed by Norihiro Naganuma. The manga is published by Square Enix and is serialized in their Monthly GanGan magazine. TOHO Animation and OML are in charge of the animation of The Apothecary Diaries anime series.
The light novel has also inspired a short mini-anime series called Maomao’s Diaries (Maomao no Hitorigoto). Maomao’s Diaries features the main character, Maomao, as she explains the key items shown during the week’s current episode. Maomao’s Diaries is streaming on TOHO Animation’s official YouTube Channel and it currently has 12 short episodes.
J-Novel Club has currently licensed the light novel series and is publishing it digitally while the manga adaptation is licensed and published by Square Enix. Square Enix will also physically publish the light novel series in English starting in May 2024.
The Apothecary Diaries anime series is streaming on Crunchyroll in both English subtitles and dubbed. The streaming site described the series as:
