The new project was announced after the finale of the original series but the title and additional details were not known. Netflix states that it will focus on the new “generation of vampire hunters” and states that the series will follow Richter Belmont:

The showrunner is Kevin Kolder, while Clive Bradley is listed as a creator and writer. Project 51 Productions and Powerhouse Animation will be producing the series, which Netflix refers to as anime, although the staff or studios involved are not from Japan. The work is based on Konami’s Castlevania games, the first of which was published in 1986. Castlevania: Nocturne follows Richter, a descendant of the Belmont family. As a game character Richter appeared in Symphony of Night and Blood of Rondo games from the Castlevania series.

The first Netflix Castlevania animated series followed Trevor Belmont and his companion Alucard and Sypha Belandes. The trio fought Dracula in the first 2 seasons and in the later series, his entourage of vampires who threatened humanity.
