The anime will adapt the light novel series written by Hirukuma and illustrated by Ituwa Kato. The author first released the series in 2016 online on the -generated novel publisher Shosetsuka ni Naro. A manga adaptation by Kunieda began serialization in August 2021.

Yen Press is licensing both the light novel and manga and describes the series as:
