Sand Land Anime Is a Movie Set To Premiere This August g4o2m

The previously announced anime adaptation of Akira Toyama’s SAND LAND is a movie, which will premiere on August 18 in Japan. SUNRISE, Kamikaze Douga and ANIMA are producing the adaptation of the single-volume manga which was first published 23 years ago. Character visuals are now available: 2z30q

Sand Land was originally serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from May to August 2000 and later published in a single volume. Viz Media licensed it in English in 2003 and describes the plot as:

In the far future, war has destroyed the entire Earth, leaving only a barren wasteland where the supply of water is controlled by the greedy king. In search of a long-lost lake, Sheriff Rao asked the king of the demons for help…and got the king’s son, Beelzebub, and his assistant, Thief. Together the unlikely trio sets off across the desert, facing dragons, bandits and the deadliest foe of all… the King’s army itself! It’s travel adventure and tank action in this new story from Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball Z!

Akira Toyama is best known for his shonen hit series, Dragon Ball.
