The My Hero Academia live-action movie will be directed by Shinsuke Sato, a Japanese filmmaker. Sato is best known for multiple live-action movie adaptations of popular manga and anime series, such as Bleach (2018), Gantz (2011), and The Princess Blade (2011). His most recent project, Alice in Borderland, was a huge success, with Netflix renewing it for a second season. 4w4926
Legendary Entertainment is producing the movie, which doesn’t have a release date yet. The studio’s biggest works include Batman Begins, Godzilla vs. Kong, and most recently Dune.
My Hero Academia live-action is the newest addition to the franchise based on a manga by Kohei Horikoshi. The manga started serialization in 2014, in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, and it currently has 322 chapters, compiled in 31 volumes. The series spawned a popular franchise, with multiple manga spin-offs and an anime adaptation by studio BONES.
The first season of the anime came out in 2016 with the sequel following a year later. Season 3 aired in 2018, while the fourth season started in the Fall of 2019 and ended in Winter 2020. Currently, the 5th season is airing on Crunchyroll.
In addition to the anime series, three My Hero Academia movies also exist. The first one, Two Heroes, came out in 2018, while My Hero Academia Movie 2: Heroes:Rising came out last year. The third movie, World Heroes’ Mission, opened in Japanese theatres on August 6th.
