Shiravune describes The Shell Part I: Inferno as:
Follow the story of Detective Reiji Tosaka as he chases down the mystery of a series of gruesome murders rocking a post-war 1950s Tokyo. The Shell Part I: Inferno is a deeply atmospheric noir-style visual novel in which players will find clues in investigative gameplay sequences and use them to make decisions that meaningfully affect the shocking twists and turns of the story.

The main cast for the game has been announced as follows:

  • Rino Kawashima as Yukari Tokisaka
  • Aji Sanma as Toko Kuchiki
  • Mimi Yoshida as Touko Mizuhara
  • Aoi Hinata as Tsuzuriko Yosomiya
  • Kaname Yuzuki as Kyoko Hazuki
  • Himeno Miyabi as Hatsune Amemiya
  • Yuzuki Akishiro as as Maris Stella

The original 2008 version of The Shell received a 2 episode hentai OVA, produced and released by MS Pictures in 2010. The independent media distributor, Media Blasters, has acquired the rights to the OVA, with an English-dubbed Blu-Ray and DVD released in January 2023.

The Shell Part I: Inferno will release with text options for English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese, for $19.99 USD / 1,999 Johren Points. Shiravune is offering a 20% discount for pre-ordering or purchasing after launch, with the discount ending on August 4th for Steam and August 11th for Johren.
