The new Sonny Boy key visual features one of the main characters, Nagara (Aoi Ichikawa). Aoi Yuuki, Saori Onishi, and Chiaki Kobayashi are also starring in the anime.
In addition to the new key visual, the official website also revealed details about the OST. Shinichiro Watanabe (Carole & Tuesday, Cowboy Bepop) is advising a group of international artists who will be composing the soundtrack. Among the artists are the Taiwanese band Sunset Rollercoaster, Japanese producer VIDEOTAPEMUSIC, and The Natsuyasumi Band. Additionally, band Mitsume, Ogawa & Tokoro, Kaneyorimasaru, Toe, and South-Korean band, Mid-Air Thief are also involved in the project.
Shingo Natsume is directing the Sonny Boy anime, as well as writing the original screenplay. Hisashi Eguchi (Perfect Blue) is doing the character designs, while Japanese band Ging Nang Boyz is performing the theme song.
The anime is an original work and follows the story of a group of middle school students who find themselves in another dimension. All of them soon realize they have gained mysterious powers, and chaos ensues as they start fighting for power and control. Some of them try to desperately find a way back to their world. But, something more sinister is at play, and they will soon be fighting for their lives.
