At this year’s Nintendo Direct, Square Enix announced a remaster of the classic PS1 RPG game, Chrono Cross. The remaster is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, Steam, and Xbox One on April 7, under the Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition title. You can watch the announcement video on their YouTube channel, which features the iconic theme song “Scars of Time” (or “Time’s Scar”): 244s63
The game was released in 1999 and is set in the same world as another classic game, Chrono Trigger, which was released in 1995 for the SENS. Chrono Cross was designed by Masato Kato, with help from other people who worked on Chrono Trigger, such as art director Yasuyuki Honne and composer Yasunori Mitsuda. Nobuteru Yuuki was the character designer.

The story follows a young boy named Serge, who learns of an alternate world where he died as a child. He then travels between the worlds to uncover the mystery, with over 40 characters who can the party depending on the player’s choices.
They stated several improvements were made for the Chrono Cross Switch remaster. They added the ability to turn enemy encounters on or off, an auto-battle function, refined character illustrations, higher-quality background music, the 3D models were upgraded to HD, among other things. The game will also include RADICAL DREAMERS – Le Trésor Interdit –, which was released in 1996 as a standalone game. It’s the story that “went on to become the basis for CHRONO CROSS in an audio novel format”.
