The “Studio Ghibli Fest 2024” by GKIDS kicks off with the re-release of the 2001 Ghibli classic Spirited Away. The re-release will only be available for 5 nights of screenings in the United States. GKIDS and Fathom are hosting this year’s iteration of the film festival, coming off the recent Oscar win of The Boy and The Heron. 563z73

The film will be shown in both original Japanese and English dubbed versions. In addition to the full feature, screenings will include a special look behind the scenes at the construction of the Studio Ghibli Park in Nagoya, Japan. Tickets for Spirited Away can be purchased online by visiting GhibliFest.com, FathomEvents.com, or at participating theater box offices (Theaters and participants are subject to change).
This year’s iteration of the Studio Ghibli Fest will also see the re-release of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind on May 19 to 21, as well as Castle in the Sky on May 20 to 22, among other films The lineup also includes special celebrations for Howl’s Moving Castle‘s 20th Anniversary, Kiki’s Delivery Service‘s 25th Anniversary, and Pom Poko‘s 30th Anniversary.
Spirited Away is a beloved anime film classic directed by renowned animator and director Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train’ took that place in 2020. It is one of two Ghibli films to win the Oscar category for “Best Animated Feature.”
