From barely reaching the top 20 previously to now in the coveted first place, Ai Kayano is the best female seiyuu in the Summer 2023 anime season. Kayano’s versatility and endearing performance as Sylphiette/Fitz in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2, Yuriko Hori in Horimiya: The Missing Pieces, Filmina in Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon, and Ophelia Salvadori in Reign of the Seven Spellblades, has secured her the top spot for this season.
Her co-stars from Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2, didn’t back down either: Reina Ueda who voiced Ariel Anemoi Asura and gave a beautiful and enchanting performance as Miyo Saimori from My Happy Marriage gave her a well-deserved second place finish. Yumi Uchiyama’s amazing portrayal of teen Rudeus Greyrat and Candice Catnipp from Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Separation gave her the third-place spot. Haruka Tomatsu and Nao Toyama’s fantastic performances also earned them a place in the top five.

In the Summer 2023 anime season, Mamoru Miyano stole the show with his exceptional and brilliant performances as Osamu Dazai in Bungo Stray Dogs Season 5, Arsene Lupin in Undead Girl Murder Farce, and Shou in Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead. From goofy, charismatic, smug, serious, and to immediately embodying the cunning mastermind, Miyano can do it all earning himself the topmost spot.
Claiming the 2nd and 3rd spots are industry veterans Takehito Koyasu and Akio Otsuka, proving their enduring talent. Koyasu shone as Toji in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 and Nikolai in Bungo Stray Dogs Season 5, while Otsuka’s brilliance was evident in his performance as Fukuchi from Bungo Stray Dogs Season 5 and Shinsui from Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Separation. Their performances show the consistency and level of their talent, making an impact on the audience. Kamiya Hiroshi and Yuichi Nakamura took 4th and 5th place with their iconic roles as Ranpo Edogawa and Gojo Satoru respectively.
While the results of the previous season showed that rookies have stepped up to the occasion, this season’s results remind us of the pillars of the industry – veterans who inspired these rising stars and further proved that talent and ion never waver.
