The Apothecary Diaries Celebrates Cat Day With Special Maomao Video 594r6f

The Apothecary Diaries released a special video of Maomao to celebrate Japan’s National Cat Day. The holiday began in 1987 when the Executive Cat Day Committee chose February 22, simply because its pronunciation (ni-ni-ni) sounded like a cat’s meow (nyan-nyan-nyan). Local businesses, including the anime industry, often have cat-themed activities for this holiday. That said, The Apothecary Diaries treated its fans with a cute video compilation of Maomao, whose name not only literally translates to “cat cat”, but has also been depicted with cat ears whenever excited about poison and medicine. She is also fondly nicknamed “Xiaomao” by characters Gaoshun and Suiren, which translates to “small cat.” See Maomao’s Cat Day video below: 582dq

Crunchyroll describes the plot:
Maomao lived a peaceful life with her apothecary father. Until one day, she’s sold as a lowly servant to the emperor’s palace. But she wasn’t meant for a compliant life among royalty. So when imperial heirs fall ill, she decides to step in and find a cure! This catches the eye of Jinshi, a handsome palace official who promotes her. Now, she’s making a name for herself solving medical mysteries!
