The Fable anime was first announced in July 2023, with a first teaser trailer released the following month. It is based on a manga series written and illustrated by Katsuhisa Minami. It was serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine from November 2014 to November 2019. A sequel titled The Fable: The Second started in Weekly Young Magazine in July 2021.
