The First Slam Dunk anime film introduced the basketball team’s teacher Mitsuyoshi Anzai in a new countdown trailer that also featured five of the club on Friday. The film premiered on December 3 in Japan and has earned over ¥4.1 billion (≒$30 million) as of December 19. 5ax38
The newly posted The First Slam Dunk trailer’s title in part reads “Post-Premiere Trailer” and the video starts with one of the team , Ryota Miyagi. He says thar basketball has been keeping him alive. In addition to the character, Mitsuyoshi Anzai and Ayako’s voices can be heard in the video along with the ending theme song, 10-FEET’s “Dai Zero-kan.”

Studios Toei Animation and DandeLion Animation Studio animated the film based on Takehiko Inoue’s Slam Dunk manga, which was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from October 1990 to June 1996 with a total of 31 volumes. The series sured 120 million circulating copies. The manga’s author is directing and writing the script for the adaptation.
Viz Media licensed the manga for English releases and all the volumes are published. The official website describes the plot of the first volume as:
