Tokyo 24th Ward Episode 2: The Mystery Surrounding Asumi Continues 2s6d3b

Episode 2 of Tokyo 24th Ward aired on Wednesday, pushing along the mystery surrounding Asumi. Compared to the hour-long series debut, episode two was more of a setup episode for what’s to come. But with a big surprise after the credits, Tokyo 24th Ward could shape up to be another solid series from CloverWorks this season. 2qm8

The Mystery of Asumi 1x4b4g

During the episode, we’re given flashbacks about what kind of person Asumi was. The scenes really amplified her death from the previous episode and it did a good job of showing her impact in the group. The flashbacks also give us insight into how the school went up in flames which ultimately led to her death. However, the call involving her voice from the last episode, despite dying, is still left unsolved. And it seems to involve a close member—Sakiko Tsuzuragawa, Koki’s personal advisor.

Sakiko, Tokyo 24th Ward Episode 2

After the end credits, we see Sakiko in front of a giant machine that we also saw at the very beginning of episode one. I would try and theorize what the machine actually does. But after Sakiko possibly lying to Koki about details regarding the recent call by “Asumi”, the gates are wide open for anything to happen. And, unfortunately, we just don’t have enough details as of yet.

Episode Sets Up The Gourmet Festival 286b2x

Half of the episode focused on Asumi, while the other half focused on the Gourmet Festival. So it’s a rather slow, almost slice-of-life episode, with a twist of mystery to it that keeps viewers interested. The episode introduces the Yabusame gang that’s behind the new mall that was just built, which could run the Takara Shopping Street out of business. But the best thing about all this build-up is that the episode did a wonderful job of making the viewers think, “Something big is going to happen next episode and I can’t wait to see what!”

With backdoor corruption, a possible murder mystery, unknown powers that could change the future, and a wonderful cast of characters, Tokyo 24th Ward could possibly end up becoming one of the most interesting new anime of the Winter 2022 lineup. You can week 1).
