Veteran Japanese voice actor Motomu Kiyokawa has died at the age of 87. According to the statement provided by the Tokyo Actor’s Consumer’s Cooperative Society (HAIKYO), Kiyokawa died due to pneumonia on August 17. 2r3h23
Koji Asada, the president of HAIKYO, has expressed his condolences on Kiyokawa’s death. He also asked the public to not interview the relatives or ask for public statements as the funeral is limited exclusively to the family .
Motomu Kiyokawa was most known for his role as Kozo Fuyutsuki in the Neon Genesis Evangelion series. His most recent involvement in the franchise was voicing Fuyutsuki in the last Evangelion film Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time.
Other notable anime roles from Motomu Kiyokawa include Tem Ray in Mobile Suit Gundam (1979), Wei Wang in Cardcaptor Sakura (1998), Charles Auclair in Nodame Cantabile (2007), Miklotov McMahon in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World (2016), Altorius in Restaurant in Another World (2017), Yoichiro in Golden Kamuy season 3 (2020), among others.
Kiyokawa had numerous tokusatsu series roles and dubbed several non-Japanese movies. He also voiced in several video game titles, including some within the BlazBlue franchise, as well as in Final Fantasy.
